The sector itself is comprised of a number of relatively discrete sub-sectors, from wealth and asset managers, investment platforms, trading businesses, and specialist lenders (from home credit to mortgage lenders).
The team has been recognised for a number of years for having broad research coverage of over 35 stocks across the Diversified Financials sector, backed up by leading Specialist Sales capability. We pride ourselves on being relatively agnostic as to the size of company followed, meaning our research includes a number of FTSE-100 companies, down to smaller AIM listed stocks.
The range of research produced, from longer notes to shorter results commentary, is backed up by insightful specialist sales commentary that adds genuine value around the investment cases in the sector.
Stuart Duncan joined Peel Hunt in 2010, having previous experience with both Numis Securities and ABN-AMRO/The Royal Bank of Scotland. With over 20 years’ experience covering the sector, he specialises in the asset and wealth managers as well as having experience of the wide range of companies in the sector. Stuart has a first class Honours degree in Accounting from the University of Strathclyde and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC.
Robert Sage has spent over 30 years as a financial sector research analyst. He joined Peel Hunt in 2020 having previously worked as the Head of European Financials Research at Macquarie. Prior to that he held senior sector research roles at a variety of firms including Cazenove and Bear Stearns and spent five years on the buy side with hedge funds Moore Capital and Bramshott Capital. Robert holds an MA in History and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse.
Ryan Flight joined Peel Hunt as a Research Analyst in 2021 having previously completed the Global Markets Graduate program at HSBC. Prior to this, he spent a year working at UBS Asset Management. Ryan has a first class Economics degree from Loughborough University, holds the Investment Management Certificate and is working towards completing the CFA program.
