Investment Banking Graduate Programme

Peel Hunt launched its inaugural Investment Banking Graduate Programme in 2023, and the Programme continues to attract a select number of graduates into our Investment Banking department. A comprehensive training programme is provided over the course of 12 months to ensure the firm’s graduate intake is fully equipped to rapidly make a meaningful contribution to the firm’s Investment Banking operations.

About the Investment Banking department

The Investment Banking department provides a full range of investment banking, services to mid-cap and growth companies, both listed and private. These include capital raising, IPOs, corporate broking, debt advisory and M&A. The firm has approximately 150 retained corporate clients, including over 10% of the FTSE 350, and undertakes many transactions every year across a broad range of sectors. This provides our Investment Banking analysts with high-quality work and learning opportunities.

The Investment Banking Department is sector focused, operating across eight sector verticals (Consumer, Healthcare, Real Estate, Industrials, FIG, Investment Funds, TMT and Natural Resources), aligning the Investment Banking department to leverage our Research team’s sector knowledge. Dedicated Equity Capital Markets/Syndicate, Debt Advisory, Private Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, Sponsor coverage and Investor Relations teams work closely with the sector teams in supporting the firm’s clients.

What we look for

Education

Successful candidates will need to be in their final year at University, or have graduated the year before, with a minimum Upper Second Class Degree (2:1). 

Skills

They will be able to demonstrate a keen interest and understanding of financial markets, be highly numerate/analytical, motivated, a strong communicator and collegiate.

Experience

Previous relevant work experience / internships will also be an advantage but not essential.

Recruitment Process

First stage - Application

 

We do not accept visa sponsorship. Also, we kindly request that you refrain from using any artificial intelligence tools such as Chat GPT to assist you with your video interview responses, as we will be using software to detect such usage.

Second stage - Assessment

A number of applicants will then be invited to participate in a second stage process in January, which will be to complete an online assessment.

The online assessment will consist of logical reasoning, numerical skills and situational test. Peel Hunt are committed to identifying diverse talent whose values align with those of the firm.

Third stage

Successful candidates from the testing platform will be invited into our offices for the first round of in-person interviews. The interviews will be between February – March.

The interview will consist of completing a case study and interview with HR and a Senior Investment Banker. The interview is for us to get to know you, understand your motivations for pursuing a career in Investment Banking and to provide you with a broader understanding of the Graduate Programme. 

Final stage

The final stage interview is for candidates to showcase their presentation skills to Senior Stakeholders in the business. Prior to the interview candidates will be made aware of the topic they need to present on. 

After this stage formal offers will be made.
