Responsibility

Our approach to sustainability

We’re a responsible business, with a duty to all those who work with and around us. That’s why our value – ‘do the right thing’ – is woven into our purpose of guiding and nurturing people through the evolution of business.

We are committed to leading by example, acting on our principles, supporting our people, controlling our environmental footprint and supporting our local communities.

Our ESG Targets

40%
Women to represent at least 40% of all employees by 2035
To create momentum in our diversity, equity and inclusion agenda, we have chosen gender as our first diversity target.
Carbon Neutrality
By 2025
Net Zero
by 2040

Our Board-level ESG Committee leads the design and delivery of our ESG strategy.

Three other working committees focus on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Community & Sustainability, respectively.

We look at our responsibilities as the direct impact of our operations – looking after our people's wellbeing, promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in our industry, being active in our local communities, and reducing our carbon footprint. We also focus on the wider influence we have through our work with our corporate and institutional clients, including supporting our corporate clients to develop and manage their own approach to sustainability.

Health & Wellbeing

The wellbeing of our people has always been, and continues to be, one of our top priorities. We are committed to encouraging and facilitating wellbeing to create an environment where employees can thrive.

  • Trained Mental Health First Aiders
We have a team of trained Mental Health First Aiders who actively support employees.
  • Employee Assistance Programmes
Our employee assistance programmes have been extended to provide support for family members as well as employees. We also offer financial wellbeing support.
  • Physical health
Access to gym membership discounts and weekly fitness classes. We offer employees mini health checks and access to physiotherapy consultations; as well as private GP services and a private medical offering service. Annual flu jabs are also offered.
  • Online coaching tools
We have a confidential, 24-hour platform for employees who are caregivers, working parents, expectant and new parents, and their managers. The tool delivers specialist working-family coaching, manager guidance and wellbeing support. Employees also have access to a team of psychologists who are specialists in helping busy professionals cope with fast-paced workplaces.
  • Consultant-led health webinars
We have hosted a number of consultant-led sessions including sessions on Dietetics and Nutrition, Staying Resilient, Men’s and Women’s Health issues and Cancer-related issues.
  • Paws in Work
Paws in Work brings puppies to the office for unique interactions that are highly therapeutic for puppies and people alike.

Peel Hunt won the Best Approach to Wellbeing Award at the 2022 Diversity and Inclusion Awards.

This category aims to recognise organisations which have actively created a positive work environment for all employees and support employees in their wellbeing in the workplace.

Community & Charity Focus

We give employees one day a year for volunteering. Individuals are free to choose from a range of voluntary work.

  • Age UK
Age UK supports older people through community programmes that combat loneliness and promote wellbeing.  Throughout the year, Peel Hunt volunteers assist with daily centre activities including serving meals, helping with games, and supporting the elderly in conversation and engagement.
  • Blackfriars Settlement
Blackfriars Settlement aims to create and provide community services and support for those who want to learn new skills or have fun and make friends. Peel Hunt volunteers cook and serve food for the 'Positive Ageing' community at Blackfriars.
  • HandsOn London
HandsOn London seeks to inspire and empower people to be the change they want to see. Holland Park is the Royal Borough’s largest park with 22.5 hectares of gardens, and much work still needs to be done to ensure that everyone can enjoy nature and local wildlife is well supported. Peel Hunt volunteers help to clear the Dry Garden removing weeds, nettles, bindweed and thistle, in order to create a tranquil corner of the park given over to the Friends of Holland Park to develop.
  • Muswell Hill Soup Kitchen
The soup kitchen started in February 1994 in response to several people asking for food following the worship services. They are open five nights a week, Sunday through to Thursday. Doors open 7.45pm-8.30pm. They normally serve a two course meal to between 30-40 people each night, a total of 8,000 meals a year.
  • Providence Row
Providence Row tackles the root causes of homelessness and supports vulnerable people in East London. Peel Hunt regularly join the kitchen team to prepare and serve three-course meals to people rough sleeping or living in temporary accommodation.
  • Ronald McDonald House
The charity provide free ‘home away from home’ accommodation at specialist children's hospitals across the UK, enabling families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life. A couple of times a year volunteers cook a meal for the families so they can heat it up when they get back from the hospital.
  • Royal Parks
Royal Parks care for each of London's Royal Parks. Peel Hunt volunteers work at Kensington Gardens for the day to help maintain one of London’s fabulous central parks.
  • Spread a Smile
Spread a Smile brings joy to seriously ill children and their families through entertainment and events. Peel Hunt volunteers have supported multiple initiatives from their Summer and Winter parties volunteering on stalls, to helping pack personalised Christmas hampers for children in hospitals and at home.
  • Spitalfields City Farm
Spitalfields City Farm is the nearest city farm to the Square Mile, giving people the opportunity to become members of their community and manage natural ecosystems for the benefit of local wildlife. Peel Hunt volunteers and family helped clear pathways in order to make the farm more wheelchair friendly.
  • The Felix Project
Felix Project is a UK charitable organisation that saves surplus food from suppliers and redistributes it to charities. It has the dual aim to help reduce food surplus. Peel Hunt volunteers spent the day preparing ingredients, portion serving into containers, packing, stacking and getting them ready for delivery. The food used in the kitchen would go to landfill, but instead is redistributed to over 950 charities, primary schools and community organisations across London.

We’re delighted to be partnered with Uptree, a leading social mobility organisation dedicated to bridging the gap between education and employment for young people from underrepresented backgrounds. Uptree works with over 100,000 students and 700+ UK state schools and partners with employers to deliver impactful work experience and career insight opportunities. Their mission is to ensure that no student is left behind on their journey from education to employment.

This partnership marks the next chapter in our education programme, which has grown significantly over the past year through initiatives within Tower Hamlets and the wider London community as well as our own work experience insight days.

FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

Employees get involved in multiple fundraising activities every year. In 2024 we hosted a Tour de Peel Hunt event in the office that involved a number of people from across the firm competing in 3 teams across a whole day. We also had a team of 12 employees cycling from London to Paris.
