• The England and Wales NHS Covid-19 app sent out 607,486 contract tracing alerts in the week ending 14 July, compared to 530,000 the previous week.
• In the week to 15 July 773,700 children were sent home from school and told to self-isolate.
• ONS data show a 28% fall in the number of victims of violence during the first year of the pandemic. However, there has been a 36% rise in fraud and computer misuse offences in the 12 months to March 2021.
• From 16 August children, under 18s and people who are fully vaccinated will no longer need to self-isolate in the UK if they come into contact with someone with the virus.
• YouTube says it has removed videos posted by Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro because they spread misinformation about coronavirus.
