This year our senior team, including CEO Steven Fine and Head of Research Charles Hall, have written thought leadership pieces about the need for regulatory reform and greater innovation in our sector.
Steven and Charles have also been widely quoted in the media as advocates for the revitalisation of UK plc; refer to the links below which showcase Peel Hunt’s continued dialogue through the media. In his piece for London’s Evening Standard, Steven discussed the growing fintech sector – a subject close to our heart as 2023 Fintech Advisory Firm of the Year – and how the UK’s new Fintech Growth Fund, whom we are advising as sole financial adviser, could provide vital growth capital for a key UK sector. Steven and Charles also hosted a webinar for an internal and external audience on reinvigorating UK equity markets. To keep informing our thinking, we launched our UK Equity Culture survey, with 555 City professionals sharing their views on ways to encourage long-term equity investment.
We have continued to enhance our reputation as a leading voice on key market issues in the UK, with more than 15,000 downloads from our digital library of thematic reports this financial year. Our reports on the accelerating pace of exits in the UK M&A market and how to reverse the rapidly shrinking UK small and mid-cap market were among our top five downloads. Those reports are supported by a growing library of podcasts and videos, on topics such as recent news events, top stock recommendations and thematic ideas, with investors frequently commenting on the quality of the content. We also share all our research with The 350 Club – an online community for FTSE 350 board members and FTSE 100 leaders.
Charles Hall has used his position as a leading voice to provide evidence to the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee, as well as contributing to the election special edition of Chamber, the journal for parliamentarians. Charles discussed the revitalisation of the UK equity market and the theme of encouraging UK investment for UK companies.
We recently launched the Peel Hunt ‘IPO Speedometer’, which provides an assessment of IPO market conditions based on a proprietary model with over 30 qualitative and quantitative inputs. This presents an indication of the health of the UK IPO market, which will help the planning process for companies thinking of undertaking an IPO process.
We will continue to advance our standing as authoritative voices speaking up for UK plc. This is fundamentally important for the health of the UK economy and UK equity markets.
